Sweet Stop and Play Date Cafe

This is a card I made using the Sketch over at the Sweet Stop Sketch Blog and I combined it with the recipe Challenge over at the Play Date Cafe.  I must admit to struggling with both challenges this week, the Sweet Stop because of the Stamped background, I not sure why as I have done this many a time.  I settled with stamping using the glass block with ink on it, I hope this counts lol.  The colours also posed a challenge for me but I am happy I pushed on as relatively pleased with the result and it does you go to push yourself sometimes.

For this card I used the following products from stampin up.

Card - Pacific Point, Whisper White
Ink - Bright Blue, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist
Stamp - Up Up and away
Punch - create a cup cake for the clouds.

Play Date Cafe

Ok I know some people of commented on my use of butterflies, but sometimes they just fit!! and I do so love them. Not sure if you are like me but I go in roundabouts, one week its butterflies then boats then something else. I kept this card very simple but am happy with it. I dont think I will add a sentiment as it would spoil the look in my opinion. I used a plain white card and stamped the upsy daisy image from stampin up on some whisper white. I mounted this on black card stock and then elegant eggplant. I used free hand and my stampin up marker of elegant eggplant to do mock stitching around as a border. To finish I stamped my trusty butterfly from great friends and cut it out. mounted it using dimentionals and finished it of with some pearls.

Play Date Cafe and Card Pattern Challenge

I thought I would have a go at the challenge this week along with the recipe from 'The Play Date Cafe'. I used the leaf stamp from the vintage vogue set from stampin up to make the background for the blue card stock. I had made a card with my demonstrator Linda Higgins earlier in the week and I really liked the image, it was on a smaller card and I just had to use it as it fitted so perfectly with the recipe, so I liberated it from that card lol, cut it into an oval, re mounted it and put some lace behind it before fitting it to the card. I have to say I really like this card very much and I know its not good to say that about your own stuff but I just love blues and browns together.

Play Date Cafe

I was determined to keep to just the 2 colours this time. I actually made it last night but had to wait to try to get a nice photo of it. We have had such shocking rain its like living in a sauna and its so dismal outside. Of course I should be happy that I dont live in the UK any more lol so will try not to winge about the rain to much. I used the Joy stamp from the 'Welcome Christmas' set from stampin up and the snowflake is from one of my very first sets 'little bits' also from stampin up. I kinda wish I hadnt bothered with the ribbon but hey ho its there.

Play Date Cafe

I must say I do look forward to the Play Date colour challenges each week. This week I looked and though no way can I do that. but after a bit of thought I managed this card. I embossed the swirls with silver embossing powder on grey card and mounted it on cherry cobbler just cause I think it need that splash of colour. The base is Kraft. I stamped the image with chocolate chip ink and added a silver ribbon.
